How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?






Information used for filming:

Construction:

·      Camera (Canon 700 D) -  High Quality, better focal range than smartphone, DSLR (digital single lens-reflex), 39-point autofocus sensor, HDR bracketing (easy high- dynamic-range imaging)
·      Premier Pro – Editing, Professional look and feel, aided in focusing on the storytelling and structure of the trailer, colour correction (professional, cohesive, desaturated convention of social realism), enabled us to effectively blend diegetic and non-diegetic sound
·      Bensound.com – high quality, copyright free music, helped us in reflecting and heightening the mood of the trailer
·      Garage band – blend together sound for trailer, flatline and music, gradual inclusion
·      Phones, to record diegetic sound, - enabled us to get a better clarity of sound as camera was far away from actors
·      Lighting, lightbulb, - lighting was too dark and too warm making the room appear orange, had to buy a more powerful bulb to aid colouring
·      Photoshop, poster – combine title, background and characters effectively, depict the characters in the polygonal style
·      Wix.com, website – professional quality website, scroll down (Like Moonlight site)
·      Social Media, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram – Real social media profiles to add to promotional package helping us to build real audiences and maintain a presence for the film

Research:

·      Youtube and Vimeo – watched real media products, trailers (Wonder, Lady Bird similar genre) structure (Oceans 8, The Greatest Showman) ALSO WHERE WE PUBLISHED OUR TRAILER AND DRAFTS
·      Streaming dvds – films, (Silver Linings Playbook, Rain Man) inspired our film
·      Real Websites – Moonlight (scroll down site) Play trailer upon entering website (silver Linings Playbook, Mr Turner)
·      Real Posters – Incredibles, Se7en, The Social Network. Learnt conventions of minimalist and traditional posters
·      Promotional Package – looked at the girl with the dragon tattoo website poster and trailer to see the way in which they complimented one another

Planning:

·      Whatsapp – talk outside of lessons posting ideas and arrangements, communicate with actors
·      Online Powerpoint, Online Moodboard, Prezi, Piktochart, Emaze – presentation softwares to make our blogs captivating and interesting
·      Premier Pro, Animatic – got a sense of final look and feel of trailer, helped in editing, filming and selecting music


Evaluation:

·      Blogger -  used to publish entire journey helping us to document the process of making our trailer
·      Videos – created videos for our evaluation questions enabling us to give a personal account of our trailer and fully explain our ideas

·      Youtube -  Published drafts of our trailers on youtube, enabling us to get feedback from audiences and work on that
